Perhaps the old Blogsboro gang should get together, form a non profit and put ourselves on the payroll? I still own the domain, Blogsboro.com and would be happy to let it go to a “worthy cause.”

I heard that. Listen, if you think it’s so easy, try living on $250K per annum out of a cushy office. What with luncheons, tee times and junkets, job creation comes pretty far down the list.

It’s a wonder we can find people to take these positions. We should be thankful for the staff and the undying commitment they exhibit. I haven’t actually seen any undying commitment, but at these prices it’s a reasonable expectation.

You’re a tough case. I guess you want evidence of aerospace, nanotech and biotech jobs. That may be asking a bit much. This program is not yet twenty years old. These things take time and lots of money.

Maybe you’d be satisfied knowing there are still people making furniture in HP. I cannot guarantee those few would yet be holding out if it weren’t for the heroic efforts of the PTP.

Perhaps the 990 isn’t the proper doc to evaluate such mundane goals as actual job creation. Creating jobs is easy. Anybody can do that. What these folks are doing is mind-numbingly difficult and can only be entrusted to high visibility officials.

The US Dept. of Labor doesn’t hand out millions of dollars with no accountability. The jobs may not actually occur during our lifetime, but the future looks bright if you think long term.

I’ll sleep more soundly knowing that these folks are dropping major coin toward somebody getting a job someday.

Can you help me out here? Did the “workforce development” program create any jobs other than the handful at the PTP? Did PTP actually do any workforce development?
