From Ryan Teague Beckwith at the N&O:
Marcus Kindley is running for state GOP chairman.
A Guilford County stockbroker and former head of his county’s Republican Party, Kindley ran unsuccessfully against chairwoman Linda Daves in 2007 on a platform of social conservatism, support for the war in Iraq and reduced spending.
He proposes a Contract with North Carolina for Republican candidates for local office. It would include asking for homes’ tax values to be lowered in light of the troubled real estate market.
Daves, who has served since December 2006, has not said whether she will seek another term as chairwoman. Former gubernatorial candidate Fred Smith is also weighing a run.
If:
Fred Smith decides to run;
Has any money left from his unsuccessful 100 county BBQ tour;
Doesn’t send out any more copies of his abridged autobiography;
Kindley is toast… again.
Hat tip to Matt Hill Comer for sounding the alarm.
Should moths stop flocking to lights and Smith decline to run, fifteen minutes of extemporaneous comment by Kindley will be enough to ensure his self-destruction. If the predictable fails to occur, I’m sure we can trot out some old dirt to ruin his chances.
My advice to Kindley would be to run a stealth campaign, saying nothing and making no appearances. Perhaps there are enough disgruntled McCrory folks to vote him in.
Well, well, well — I guess I am still good for something in Greensboro.
Oh yeah. Good to hear from you.
get ready fecmeister…this
one’s for you.
Thanks. I almost embedded it at the bottom of the post.
