I needed to have 2 sheets of OSB and some standards from Rubenesque waiting for the Wife’s brother when he arrived at 8, er 9, this morning. The rest of the day was spent taking down standards and slatwall from Rubenesque and shuttling them to the new location.

If you don’t know what standards and slatwall are, you’re better off.

Jody dismantled the jewelry case and computer console. Her brother and I moved them to the new location; he got paid and hit the road.

He is a true genius at setting up retail locations and saved us untold time and money. Unlike other contractors with whom we have dealt, he works fast and hard. By the time he put away all his marvelous saws and tools, we were all exhausted.

Like two zombies, the Wife and I repaired to Buffalo’s for wings and beer. As a result, I am pain free.

We were this tired six months ago when we moved into our new house. That was a nightmare which never seemed to end. We’ve got this puppy almost wrapped up. We’ll hit the new digs early tomorrow morning, set up the computer and deal with the telco and alarm idiots. I’ll vacuum and we’ll have lots of better slightly used plus-size garments arriving by 10:00. God willing and the creek don’t rise, Rubenesque for Less will open at its new location Tuesday morning.

Please note for the record, not a day’s business will be lost due to moving. It would not have been possible without the good people at Lowe’s. In our defense, several times today Steve called out for an arcane item and we actually had one.

Speaking of short rows, I built a small greenhouse today using concrete wire, cedar boards and plastic film. I guess it’s not really a green house as it measures 3′ x 9′ x 3′ tall but it should help my tomtoes get an early start. Last year I built 2 smaller ones and learned that if you fill every inch that isn’t planted with jugs of water then the water will retain enough heat from the sun to protect the plants at night. Hense, I enjoyed my first tomatoes in May.

Glad to see you survived moving… I hate moving anything. Once, when I was working for a local towing company and used auto parts yard we recieved 30 days notice that the land had been sold from under us. Five of us moved 1500 cars plus kept doing our regular jobs– towing customer cars, mechanic work and selling parts– without exceeding the time limit. Of course, I was a lot younger then.

  2. Oo-rah! I shall visit the new location the next time I am in town.

I don’t need a house or even a room to get started. I’m putting gardening on the back burner until we get Linnea’s closed.
