Paula Abdul is completely nuts.
Rudy Giuliani will be swift boated by the NYFD and the Catholics, due to his multiple marriages and Pro-choice stance on abortion.
Fred Thompson will be sunk for having worked as a lobbyist and allowing his kids to act as lobbyists. He will never declare his candidacy. He’s dirty and he knows it.
By the time Rudy and Fred follow McCain to the sidelines, the political water may be bloodied sufficiently for Newt Gingrich to declare. Hopefully, Romney, Huckabee and Tancredo will hang around to keep things interesting, but we don’t really need them so long as there is Ron Paul.
The Surge will work. The proven tactic of taking ground and holding it prevails.
We will not attack Iran. The sanctions will marginalize the country until the leadership capitulates.
We will capture or kill bin Laden and al Zawahiri. Mushy will stage his re-election. He will earn his money and curtail the Taliban. Meanwhile, Aghanistan will enjoy another record poppy crop.
The Chinese will play it cool, currency-wise, as the wheels start to come of their industry due to a lack of quality control.
Oil will stay above $50 per barrel for the foreseeable future.
Millions of foreclosures will occur, but nothing much will happen. Law enforcement and the courts lack the resources to take action. Much like illegal immigrants, millions of our neighbors will be among the foreclosed. Financial reform legislation will be attempted, ultimately fail and hedge funds will be curtailed, if not abolished. Lots of Wall Street folks will go to prison. Even more people will lose their retirement and face a much reduced existence.
By the time the election comes around, the economy will be so terrible that no one in their right mind would vote for a Democrat.
Newt Gingrich will be rewarded for his success in ’94 by being elected our next President. He will finally get around to the reforms W. ignored.
There will never be a fence on the Mexican border, nor will there need be. As the economy cools, the immigrant will go back where he came from.
We will be attacked here by al Qaeda, and no, it won’t be staged by the Neo Cons.
Al Gore will continue to look stupid.
David Hasselhoff will be great in Man of la Mancha on Broadway and finally have a successful singing career in the U.S.
I will continue to hope for the apocalypse. Devout Christians will wonder what happened to their Rapture.
Although some of us will scream from the rafters to SEND THE BUMS HOME, lots of incumbents will enjoy re-election.
A record number of people will turn out to vote.
“Millions of foreclosures will occur, but nothing much will happen. Law enforcement and the courts lack the resources to take action.”
I have a friend who has been living in a foreclosed home without making a single payment for three years. Every month the bank calls him and every month he replies, “You’ve already foreclosed on the house and I’m not going to pay anything this month either.”
The bank has been unable to sell the house for anything near what he still owes and for them letting him stay for free is cheaper than the damage that will be done by vandals when the house becomes empty. Add to that the fact that the bank knew the house wasn’t worth the amount he borrowed when they helped him get in it and it’s easy to see why no one has served papers to remove him from the house.
Another friend of mine lived in his foreclosed house for 2 years before they forced him out. Then he bought another house as he’d saved a huge down payment while not paying rent for two years. I thought he was an idiot to let the house go back, turns out he got a better house.
Financial Institutions have become very reckless with the Republicans in charge and to attempted forced removals will only bring their negligence to light even quicker. So until they figure out a way to cover up their mistakes they do nothing but hope the next election will result in some sort of bail out.
I’m sure lots of folks will have their credit ruined by foreclosure. And unlike your friend, lending institutions have already tightened restrictions to where they probably wouldn’t qualify for another mortgage.
Your foreclosure and Republican candidate scenarios are a little too far out there for me.
The issues you think spell doom for Giuliani and Thompson don’t even qualify as “third rate” issues.
As much as I like Newt for his vision, i can’t see him getting nominated. I do see a position of influence for him in a Guiliani or Thompson administration though.
I hope your Iran, Iraq, and immigration scenarios take place.
I’m willing to defend my foreclosure stance, but I concede that the dirt on Giuliani and Thompson might not be enough to take them out.
Are you contending that over 2 million foreclosures won’t happen next year?
“Are you contending that over 2 million foreclosures won’t happen next year?
If we see a full 10% drop in value, averaged across the country, more than 2 million could be right, the great majority in the sub prime market.
Otherwise, no.
So you’re saying that subprime foreclosures in FL, MI, NV and CA aren’t enough to have a significant effect on the overall market, much less the economy?
Could be.
