Today’s N&R section D called Savor mentions pomegranates at the top of the page and where you can get them – Harris Teeter and Fresh Market.

Let me tell you snobs one thing right now. I am not about to subject myself to the several stoplights of Sprawlboro to find one of those stores when at least 3 Food Lions are quite near by. And they each have mountains of beautiful pomegranates available.

This is one of the many reasons why the editorial staff of the N&R is reviled.

I’m happy to see the new City Council is funding Chief Bellamy’s request for $500K. However, I must warn you that more police will do little to stop such incidents as Trudy Well’s two most recent Christmas ornaments. High Point Road has languished while pristine outlying areas have enjoyed public and private investment. If the City really wants to stop crime in East GSO and HP Road, which I seriously doubt, then put some money into these old shopping centers so they won’t become havens for gangs like MS-13.

The reality is that these areas have been forgotten and sadly, the poor and the powerless must shop and eat somewhere. So while you’re busy patting yourselves on the back for developments like the Village at North Elm, never forget that the real price includes moving the silent citizens to the margins and into the hands of waiting gangs.

The N&R is fooling no one save themselves by running stories of the extremely pathetic. The paper is more responsible than most for enabling the property developers who run this town and create the conditions in which these poor souls must dwell.

It is wise that the N&R guards the identities of its copy editors. I’ve excoriated poor JR quite enough, but should I find myself in the presence of another of these lizards, I promise to ruin its day.

Last night, the Wife and I attended a Christmas dinner hosted by one of my customers. This gave me the opp to spend time with one of my fav people, whom I rarely see due to his mad stomps around the planet. We lingered in the parking lot and caught up. He spends his days entertaining the well heeled and early retired and has a wonderful take on what’s up.

According to him, we’re fucked. The middle class is gone. You’re either rich or poor.

Andy “By God” Jackson’s in his second term and much loved by the people. Lifelong dysentery sends him much to the throne and he has appeared on the verge of demise for years. The natives, Spanish and British were fierce, but not so vexing as the vandals he finds in Washington.
