Ed Cone is asking about Greensboro’s registered voters. Here are the Google Docs with breakout stats.
11-5-09 13:00: Amanda Lehmert from the N&R has reported the NCSBOE website indicates 196,583 registered voters in Greensboro. The data I received from the Guilford BOE in June indicates 167,144. I contend the NCSBOE is including inactive voters which are not present in the data I was given.
The most recent Voter Statistics from the NCSBOE says there are 345,166 voters in Guilford County. My Guilford BOE data says 304,139. Again, I contend the NCSBOE number includes inactive voters.
14:00: I downloaded the report as Amanda suggested at Ed’s and substantiated her total number of Greensboro voters. Have nearly 30,000 new voters registered since June? I doubt it.
I called the Guilford BOE and they agreed the discrepancy is due to inactive voters.
Believe me when I say I’m not being cynical and that I think it’s a good thing that the most controversial topic of this election is if 18% or 20% of registered voters voted.
I had to run it down before commenting. I think fudging negative by two percent is a big deal.
