The woman who suggested we use one piece of toilet paper has read a book:

How we treat our chickens, pigs, fish and cows affects everyone. Whether you eat animals or not, they have an impact on your life in the pollution they create, and the unhealthy impacts they can have on our friends and family members who do eat animals (including asthma, heart disease, cancer and more). Ever noticed how other countries whose diet is not meat-based have much lower incidences of these illnesses?

I’d like to make one small distinction. I do not eat animals; I eat things which used to be animals. Last night I ate the thighs of what used to be chickens. They were on sale, I BBQ’d them, and they were very good. I will probably eat things which used to be animals for lunch and dinner. I simply cannot eat oatmeal and zucchini all the time. As I have diabetes, I must eat even more things which used to be animals. When I’m enjoying them I almost never think of Laurie David or global warming. Instead, I live in old houses and drive old cars. I don’t commute to work, so my carbon footprint is sufficiently small that the planet can well afford for me to eat things which used to be animals. I think Mrs. David would understand.

BTW, Mike J. Baron’s blog got a lot of traffic yesterday. So, get on over there, but be warned he’s commenting on the chart and nothing but the chart. Charges of being criminally insane and evil will be ignored.

As an act of ablution for sins perpetrated against Mike Baron, I will for one week drink nothing by my re-constituted urine, using the rest to water my dwarf lime trees while on my catamaran.

I thought it was Sheryl Crowe who advocated use of only one tissue. But that would leave a fecal stench wouldn’t it?

  2. Fec the Terrible says:

Indeed. Laurie was with Sheryl at Farm Aid when the foolishness was uttered. I believe Laurie cried.
